Steel Form deck is a term used to describe deck that is most frequently used as a stay in place form for structural concrete. It is designed to serve as a permanent steel base for poured reinforced concrete floor slabs. Installation is fast, easy, and economical: the need for temporary wood forming is eliminated.
Because this deck type can be used in such a variety of ways it has not had the same design or profile constraints that have influenced the shapes of the two other conventional products roof deck and composite deck. Indeed, almost any deck, including floor deck and roof deck, can be considered to be form deck simply depending on its use.
Metal Form Decks are available in 9/16″, 15/16″ or 1″, 1-5/16″, 1-1/2″, 2″, or 3″ Depths.
These are normally used for spans of 2′-5′ with slabs of 3″-6″ of concrete, and are used strictly for forming the slab.
Gauges for form decks vary from 28 to 16 gauge, thinner gauges are the most common.
They are typically available in Galvanized (G60 or G90), and can be ordered in Uncoated (Black) Steel, and vented for lightweight concrete.
